White Clover Seeds – 20gms
White Clover is highly attractive to insects particularly bees and other pollinating insects.
White Clover is leguminous and deep rooting and is invaluable for improving soil fertility through its ability to ‘fix’ nitrogen and deep rooting properties.
Suits most soil types.
When to Sow
Can be sown at any time of year, although March to Autumn is best.
Sow thinly at about 2 gms /sq metre directly onto the soil where you want the clover to grow, and lightly cover. The seeds should be sown onto a bare ground area that has been worked into a fine tilth. The seeds can also be sown into an area that is already grassed over providing it is not too dense.
The seeds should germinate in 10-14 days given the correct climatic conditions of warmth and moisture.
The White Clover flowers are very attractive to Bees and other insect pollinators.
Use as a Green Manure
White Clover is used as a Green Manure by recovering Nitrogen from the soil and releasing this to be used in the next crop after it has been dug back into the ground. If the plants are too dense or large at the time of digging into the ground they can be cut down and the tops composted with the lower parts of the plants being dug back into the ground.
